Update

Dear All,
Thank you for your kind words of comfort. I have been grieving Buckshot tremendously and it is a very difficult thing for me. The suddenness of his death, without any preceding illness, or even being "out to pasture," is one thing that makes his death very hard for me. In addition, he was the light of my life, one of the best and most wonderful aspects of my life, and his loss is huge. So I am trying to find comfort and holding onto the memories I have of Buckshot, and navigating the hard, slow, dark road of grief. I will be taking a break from my blog for the time being. Thank you.

Jan

I completely understand. I lost a wonderful mare back in 2001 at the age of 10 from a fractured leg in turnout - one minute she was beautiful and wonderful and full of life - she was an amazing horse - and the next minute she was gone. The suddenness of the loss made it that much harder to take. I still miss her, but cherish the memories.

Oh Jan, I've been a terrible blogger and rarely checking blogs. I just saw this and my eyes are full of tears. My heart is breaking for you, especially in reading your previous posts that you were really needing Buckshot due to issues you were dealing with.
Your love for him shone from every paragraph you wrote. I hope you are healing. Sending positive thoughts from Nove Scotia...

I know exactly how you feel because over the years I lost 2 horses. It took time, but I realized that they would want me to share my love with others! Each time, I took in a rescue. Did he replace the horse I lost - NO! but he did bring me joy in so many other ways. You have so much to give and there are so many needy horses out there. I think Buckshot would want you to go on - it would certainly be a way of honoring your time together!
